RCC 2015 FANTASY LEAGUE – WEEK 5 WINNERS CIRCLE

Here we go with the Fantasy League results from Week 5 of our 125th Season.

Congratulations to Dave Tame on scoring a massive 181 points courtesy of his century last week – a Radyr Fantasy League record!

Congratulations to Jess Clegg on firstly picking Dave in her team ‘The Hyper Hippos’ and then also picking 10 others who all chipped in to score 423 points to win the Manager of the Week prize! Two Cleggs in two weeks!

In terms of the race to the grand prize, Nick is still leading, but the rest are catching up fast, meaning his lead is only 27 points!

Good luck to all for the coming week, where hopefully the forecast will remain and all 4 team will play (and win!)

I did (for some reason) suggest last week this week would see the transfer window open. Can I therefore remind you that every team has 2 transfers allowed (additional transfers put an extra £2.50 into the prize fund). If you wish to change your team please email me with your request before next Saturday (11.59pm Friday night)…I’ll make a note of how many transfers you’ve had & based on how mental it makes my spreadsheet, I’ll make a call on how long the transfer window stays open!

Can I also take this opportunity to nag all those who have yet to pay, to please do so this week. I’m meeting with the sign people in the next few days, so hopefully it won’t be too long before the benefits of this league are there for all to see!

Cheers,

Rhys

DEFEATS FOR RCC 1ST AND 2ND X1S VS CHEPSTOW CC

Radyr 1st and 2nd X1s both played Chepstow CC at the weekend looking to bounce back from defeats against Newbridge CC the previous week. Unfortunately despite some improvements in performances, both the 1s away and 2s at home suffered losses.

Batting first having won the toss, the 1st X1 were quickly in trouble at 2-2 with both openers going early. RCC rebuilt thanks to Rhys Lloyd’s 33 and Howard Stone’s 35. The stand out performance however was a sensational knock by Huw Williams. Coming in at 5 with the team still in trouble, he blazed his way to a maiden RCC ton reaching 106. Radyr finished their innings on 226 all out from 49.1, with Jon Roberts taking 4-45 and Paul Swingwood 3-26.

In reply Chepstow reached their target in 46.4 overs, winning by 6 wickets, thanks to 86 from Gareth Ansell and 60 from David Teague. Jon Cordon with 2-36 from his 10. Chepstow taking 20 points and Radyr 7. Next up is Usk CC away.

The 2nd X1 also batted first at home, with Chepstow winning the toss and opening up with a tight spell in the first 12 overs from Ress and Rogers restricting the home team from scoring freely. After a breezy 35 from Woolston at 3, Radyr lost regular wickets with only Clegg 41 and Ford 47 (3rd consecutive jug avoidance) offering  further contributions with the bat as RCC were all out for 169.  Madurasinghe finished with 4-25 from his 9.

Chepstow started well in response, Madurasinghe and Bailey reaching 41 before the latter fell to Razzaq. Madurasinghe (47) and Gavand (54) took the game away from the home side and despite 4 late wickets for Jack Davies, won the game by 4 wickets with 7 overs to spare. Chepstow 20 points, RCC 6 points. . Next up for the 2nd is Usk CC at home.

Details of 3rd and 4th X1 to follow.

RCC U11’S GUARD OF HONOUR AT GLAMORGAN

RCC U11’s were fortunate to form the Guard of Honour at Friday’s Natwest T20 game between Glamorgan and Essex. The visitors went onto win the game by 5 wickets but it was a great occasion for all involved!
