Junior news from Radyr CC
The junior section are busy preparing for the 2018 season at Radyr CC and if last year is anything to go by we should be registering around 150 children over the next few weeks.
Throughout the winter players from U11, U13 and U15 have had the opportunity to attend winter training at Radyr Comp and SWALEC indoor school thanks to support from the R&M community fund. Whilst our U9s (school years 3 & 4) will have chance to refresh their cricketing skills at sessions being held at Radyr Comp on 19th & 26th April (please email email@example.com to reserve your place). In addition to this over the last few weeks’ taster sessions have been held at Radyr and Bryn Deri primary schools for children in years 2, 3 and 4.
We would like to congratulate all our players who have been selected for Wales squads in 2018 it’s been our most successful year ever with sixteen children being chosen. In addition we have players from every age group at RCC selected in Cardiff & The Vale county squads this year. This is a great achievement by all the children and a great reflection of the commitment and dedication shown by all our junior coaches to help develop all children in the wonderful game of cricket.
Our junior section are able to offer cricket for children from ages 5-15 and are proud to be the only club in Cardiff to host a National Development Centre for girls in conjunction with Cricket Wales who hold weekly training sessions at the club throughout the summer. We will be entering 7 teams into the Cardiff & Vale junior league where we will play opponents from across the region, we have also entered teams into the Lady Taverners, ECB & Welsh cup competitions.
Overall we aim to develop an interest in the game for all children who become members of the club. This is achieved by a fantastic group of qualified coaches who are all volunteers and take great pride in offering boys and girls of all ages and abilities the opportunity to develop their cricketing skills. This doesn’t matter if you are a complete beginner or have previous experience – everyone will be welcomed.
